During his time with the Cardinals, Jocketty orchestrated key trades and acquisitions that brought in star players like Chris Carpenter, Jim Edmonds, Mark McGwire, Scott Rolen, and Adam Wainwright. He also played a pivotal role in drafting future Hall of Famers Yadier Molina and Albert Pujols, as well as hiring renowned manager Tony La Russa.
Prior to his tenure with the Cardinals, Jocketty held various positions with the Oakland Athletics from 1980-1993, contributing to the team’s success in winning three consecutive AL pennants from 1988-1990, including the 1989 World Series.
