New Zealand’s Greg Barclay currently holds the position of ICC chairman, a role he has held for the past four years since assuming office in 2018 with the support of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. As the elections draw closer, Shah emerges as a potential candidate for the chairman position.

Could Jay Shah be the next ICC chairman?
Despite being a favored candidate, Shah has not expressed any intention to challenge Barclay for the chairman role. However, if Shah decides to run for the elections, sources suggest he is likely to secure the position, as reported by Cricbuzz.
Rumors also speculate that Shah may consider relocating the ICC headquarters from Dubai to Mumbai once he assumes leadership.

Reports from international media indicate that Shah aims to implement significant changes within the organization following criticisms of the handling of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, held in the USA and West Indies. The tournament faced backlash for substandard pitches in the USA, raising concerns about the hosting standards.
Upon becoming ICC chairman, Shah would be eligible to run for BCCI president once his term concludes in 2028.
Which Indians have previously served as ICC chairman?
Only two Indians have held the position of ICC chairman thus far. Narayanaswami Srinivasan was the first Indian to serve as chairman, followed by Shashank Manohar who took over in November 2015 until June 2020.
