🏀 Is Rick Pitino the best college hoops coach ever?
Just asking: Is Rick Pitino the best coach in college basketball history?
From Yahoo Sports’ Dan Wetzel:
Pitino’s career includes 758 victories, a .712 winning percentage, and two NCAA titles. However, he faces stiff competition from other coaching legends like Mike Krzyzewski, John Wooden, and Bob Knight.
Despite not being considered among the greatest, Pitino’s coaching success at various schools and his ability to rebuild programs make him a unique talent.
The 72-year-old is in his second season with St. John’s, leading them to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2019. Pitino has coached at six different schools and had success despite challenges and controversies.
Bottom line: While Pitino may not have the numbers and accolades of other coaches, his ability to rebuild programs and succeed in different situations sets him apart.
