The New York Yankees have announced that pitcher Marcus Stroman has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to left knee inflammation. This decision comes after Stroman’s rough outing against the San Francisco Giants, where he gave up five runs in just 2/3 of an inning before being pulled from the game.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed that Stroman had been experiencing knee pain during the game and was sent to the hospital for further tests. Stroman had not mentioned any issues with his knee prior to his start on Friday.
Despite Stroman’s struggles on the mound this season, the timing of his injury may work in the Yankees’ favor as Clarke Schmidt is set to return from a shoulder injury. Schmidt pitched four scoreless innings in a recent rehab start for Double-A Somerset and could potentially rejoin the rotation next week.
