Yankees seen as ‘strong fit’ to make surprising trade for Tigers ace

The New York Yankees are gearing up for the upcoming MLB trade deadline, and there is speculation that they may be looking to strengthen their starting rotation.

While the Yankees currently have a solid starting five, some experts suggest that adding another reliable arm to the rotation could benefit the team, especially with the return of Clarke Schmidt from the injured list.

According to a report by Tim Kelly on Bleacher Report, the Yankees could be a good fit for Detroit Tigers ace Jack Flaherty if they decide to pursue him.

Flaherty, who is having a strong season, could be a valuable rental for the Yankees as they aim to enhance their pitching for the postseason. With a 3.24 ERA, 115 strikeouts, and a 1.00 WHIP in 89 innings, Flaherty has been a standout performer this year.

The 28-year-old pitcher relies on a three-pitch mix, featuring a four-seam fastball, slider, and curveball, while rarely using his changeup and sinker. Despite concerns about his durability, Flaherty’s impressive stats make him an attractive option for the Yankees.

If the Yankees are looking to strengthen their rotation for the second half of the season, pursuing Flaherty could be a strategic move.
