Zach Eflin, Randy Arozarena, Isaac Paredes traded: More Rays who could be on the move before trade deadline

The Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners completed a significant trade early Friday morning, with All-Star outfielder Randy Arozarena heading to the Pacific Northwest in exchange for two prospects and a player to be named later. Another major trade followed later in the day, as right-hander Zach Eflin was sent to the Baltimore Orioles for three additional players. The Rays continued their selling spree on Sunday morning by trading reliever Jason Adam to the Padres for three prospects, and later that afternoon, they flipped Isaac Paredes to the Cubs. Amed Rosario was the next to go to the Dodgers a day later. It’s clear that the Rays are actively selling ahead of the trade deadline on Tuesday.

Tampa Bay’s decision to become sellers is an interesting development, given their roster of potential trade candidates. Here are some more Rays players who are likely to attract interest from other teams before the July 30 deadline:

Lowe’s trade value is somewhat uncertain due to his injury history. When healthy, he is a productive hitter with positional versatility, although he has primarily played second base since 2023. His contract includes club options for the next two seasons, and it’s likely that the Rays will not exercise the option for the second year.

Littell, who was a pleasant surprise last season, has not replicated the same success this year. However, his ability to command the strike zone and induce swings with his slider and splitter make him an intriguing trade target. He is set to become a free agent after the 2025 season, and a team willing to bet on his potential could view him as a valuable addition.

3. 1B Yandy Díaz

Approaching age 33, Díaz has one guaranteed season left on his contract. He remains a disciplined hitter with power, but his slugging percentage has dipped below .400. The Rays may consider moving him to make room for younger players like Curtis Mead. Trading Díaz at the deadline could signal the start of a transition for the team.

Fairbanks has faced challenges on and off the field this year, which may have impacted his performance. Despite a decrease in velocity and strikeout rate, he still possesses the potential to be a high-quality reliever. Teams could see him as a buy-low opportunity given his track record of success. Fairbanks is under contract through at least next season.
