The latest addition to the Boston Celtics roster is Lonnie Walker IV, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski. The specifics of Walker’s one-year contract remain confidential at this time.
In his previous season with the Brooklyn Nets, Walker showcased his skills by averaging 9.7 points, two rebounds, and one assist per game across 58 games. With a 38% three-point shooting accuracy, he adds another reliable shooter to the team. His presence will provide valuable support off the bench, allowing starting guards Jrue Holiday and Derrick White some well-deserved rest.
According to Shams Charania, Walker’s contract falls under the Exhibit 10 category. This designation enables the Celtics to offer him additional compensation in the form of a bonus if he is released post-training camp and subsequently joins the Maine Celtics, the team’s G-League affiliate.
Walker’s role on the court will primarily involve perimeter shooting, complementing forwards Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who excel at driving to the basket. He joins the ranks of Payton Pritchard, Sam Hauser, and Baylor Scheierman, all of whom fulfill a similar shooting role within the team.
With the acquisition of Walker, the Celtics’ offensive prowess is further enhanced. Their potent drive-and-kick strategy appears even more formidable with the addition of another sharpshooter.
