The Charlotte Hornets will be without Miles Bridges, their second-leading scorer, for at least two weeks due to a bone bruise in his right knee.

The team officially announced Bridges’ injury on Friday and he was ruled out for Charlotte’s upcoming game against the Indiana Pacers as per Friday’s injury report. He is set to be re-evaluated in two weeks but is expected to miss the next seven games for the Hornets.

Bridges sustained the injury during a recent game against the Detroit Pistons when he hyperextended his knee while trying to block a shot. He twisted his knee upon landing awkwardly.

“I just came down wrong a little bit,” Bridges shared with Rod Boone of the Charlotte Observer post-game. “I’ll be good. I’ll be good.”

An MRI conducted on Thursday confirmed the bone bruise. Before exiting the game, Bridges matched his season-high with 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He had a slow start in the first eight games of the season, averaging 14.6 points per game compared to his career-high of 21 points per game last season.

At 26 years old, Bridges adds to the list of injuries on Charlotte’s frontline, along with Mark Williams (foot strain) and Nick Richards (fractured rib). These injuries have contributed to the Hornets’ 3-5 record, placing them third in the Southeast Division, just half a game behind the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat.
