The Phoenix Suns have had a phenomenal start to the season but will now have to navigate their way without Kevin Durant.

The standout forward suffered a left calf strain in the Suns’ recent game against the Dallas Mavericks and will be sidelined for at least two weeks until he undergoes a re-evaluation, as reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania. This setback comes at a crucial juncture for Durant, who previously dealt with a similar injury leading up to the Paris Olympics earlier in the year.

Durant’s absence will undoubtedly be felt by the Suns, given his impactful contributions to their impressive 8-1 start, including leading the NBA with 35 clutch points and shooting 42.9% from beyond the arc.

Despite the setback, the Suns have shown promising signs this season, building on the additions of Bradley Beal alongside Durant and Devin Booker. With a revamped roster and the guidance of new head coach Mike Budenholzer, the team seemed poised for success before Durant’s injury.

As they look to maintain their momentum in Durant’s absence, the Suns face a challenging stretch ahead, including a rematch against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Nov. 17. It will be a test of their depth and resilience as they strive to continue their strong start to the season.
