Round 2 of the 2025 Australian Open has wrapped up with some surprising results. While top-seeded players advanced to Round 3, there were notable upsets that shook up the tournament.

The most talked-about upset came from Naomi Osaka, who staged a remarkable comeback to defeat No. 20 Karolina Muchova in three sets. Osaka’s victory marked her return to the third round of a major tournament since 2022.

Other upsets included Casper Ruud falling to 19-year-old Jakub Mensik and Qinwen Zheng being outplayed by veteran Laura Siegemund.

American stars Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and Tommy Paul secured wins in their respective matches, while Carlos Alcaraz, Aryna Sabalenka, and Alexander Zverev continued their dominant form.

Notably, Novak Djokovic set a new record for the most Grand Slam matches played, surpassing Roger Federer’s previous record. Djokovic’s win in Round 2 solidified his place in tennis history.
