Former UFC Champion Cain Velasquez Moved to New Location to Serve Prison Sentence

Former UFC champion Cain Velasquez has been relocated to serve the remainder of his prison sentence for shooting at a man accused of molesting his son. Velasquez, 42, was sentenced to five years in prison, minus time served, for the incident that occurred in February 2022.

Velasquez was transferred from Wasco State Prison to the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad, Calif. His location has been confirmed through online inmate records. KGET TV 17 in Bakersfield, Calif., was the first to report this news.

During his sentencing, Velasquez was credited with time served, leaving 542 days remaining on his sentence. The former champion was charged with multiple counts related to the shooting incident.

Judge Bocanegra took into account Velasquez’s community standing before sentencing him to five years in prison. Velasquez expressed remorse for his actions and extended well wishes to the Goularte family.

The man accused of molesting Velasquez’s son is awaiting trial, while the Goularte family is facing a civil lawsuit from the Velasquez family.
