Charles Barkley has decided not to retire from broadcasting following the 2024-25 NBA season.
TNT Sports announced on Tuesday that the basketball Hall of Famer and “Inside the NBA” co-host has reaffirmed his commitment to the network for the long term, exclusively contributing for many more years.
Earlier, Barkley had stated during the NBA Finals in June that he would be retiring after the upcoming season.
“I love my TNT Sports family,” Barkley said in a statement. “My priority has always been our people and keeping everyone together for as long as possible. We have an amazing team, and I am excited to continue working with them on our current shows as well as new projects in the future. This is where I belong, and I am committed to giving my best to entertain our fans for years to come.”
In July, the NBA announced that Warner Bros. Discovery, TNT’s parent company, had not matched Amazon Prime’s offer in the new media rights deal. This has led to a shift in NBA coverage to ESPN, NBC, and Amazon, potentially marking the end of TNT’s 35-year relationship with the league after the 2024-25 season.
Barkley, who has been with TNT for 25 seasons, signed a 10-year agreement with the network in 2022.
