Dodgers reliever Brusdar Graterol expected to miss first half of 2025 season after shoulder surgery

Los Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Brusdar Graterol is set to miss the first half of the 2025 MLB season after having surgery to repair the labrum in his right shoulder. The 26-year-old pitcher had a challenging 2024 season with only seven regular-season appearances due to shoulder and hamstring injuries. However, he did make a comeback during the postseason, pitching in three World Series games and delivering a solid performance.

According to a tweet from the Los Angeles Dodgers, Graterol underwent successful shoulder surgery on November 14, with an expected return to the mound in the second half of the 2025 regular season. Despite this setback, Graterol has one more season of arbitration eligibility before becoming a free agent next year.

In 2023, Graterol had an impressive 1.20 ERA in 68 appearances and a scoreless streak of 25 innings. However, he is not the only Dodgers player dealing with injury concerns. Pitcher Shohei Ohtani and veteran Clayton Kershaw also underwent surgeries after the season, with uncertain timelines for their return to the field.

Shortstop Miguel Rojas is also expected to undergo surgery for a sports hernia but should be ready for spring training. The team is making adjustments for the upcoming season, with Mookie Betts likely to transition back to the infield. Overall, the Dodgers are facing challenges with key players recovering from injuries, but they are preparing for a strong comeback in the 2025 season.
