After shining with the Memphis Grizzlies on a two-way contract last season, Scotty Pippen Jr. has reportedly inked a multi-year guaranteed deal with the team.
Representatives from Pippen’s agency, Klutch Sports, including Rich Paul and agent Shy Saee, confirmed the agreement to ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday. The specific terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
Aged 23, Pippen is the son of basketball legend Scottie Pippen. Despite going undrafted in 2022 after a successful collegiate career at Vanderbilt, he managed to secure a spot with the Los Angeles Lakers on a two-way contract during the 2022-23 season.
Following his brief stint with the Lakers, Pippen was released before the start of the 2023-24 season. However, he found a new opportunity with the Grizzlies in January, where he impressed with his performance in 21 games, including 16 starts. He averaged 12.9 points, 4.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game, showcasing his skills on both ends of the court.
His strong showing earned him a standard NBA contract in Memphis, where he is expected to provide support as a backup guard to starters Ja Morant and Marcus Smart. With the recent retirement of Derrick Rose, Pippen will have the chance to step into a more prominent role within the team.
