Hideki Matsuyama almost lost a five-shot lead but managed to secure a two-shot victory with back-to-back birdies at TPC Southwind.

His win at the FedEx St. Jude Championship marked the beginning of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, propelling him to third place in the standings for the upcoming BMW Championship.

Despite facing challenges, Matsuyama’s stellar performance throughout the tournament, including a five-shot lead and crucial birdies at the end, solidified his victory.

His victory comes after a series of events, including a luggage theft incident in London that led to a replacement caddie for the tournament.

Reflecting on his win, Matsuyama expressed gratitude for his putting skills and determination to succeed.

With this win, Matsuyama’s career on Tour boasts 10 victories, positioning him well for future competitions and rankings.

The tournament also saw Xander Schauffele and Viktor Hovland securing top positions, setting the stage for an exciting continuation of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
