Jack Della Maddalena is open to facing Islam Makhachev for the welterweight title.
Maddalena is set to challenge Belal Muhammad for the welterweight title at UFC 315 next month. Rumors suggest that Makhachev is eyeing a potential matchup with Maddalena if he emerges victorious. Makhachev is friends with Muhammad and has indicated he will only move up to welterweight if Belal is no longer the champion.
“That would be a great opportunity,” Maddalena shared on the Grin Reapers YouTube channel. “Facing Makhachev in Perth would be quite the story, especially after avenging Volk’s losses. Let’s focus on getting past Belal first, and then we’ll see what unfolds.”
Maddalena has trained with Alexander Volkanovski in the past, and he holds the featherweight champion in high regard. Despite not being from the same team, both fighters share a bond as Australian athletes.
“In my opinion, Volkanovski is one of Australia’s greatest athletes,” Maddalena praised. “His recent victory solidifies his legacy in our country’s sports history.”
