Mikal Bridges shocked the Moda Center in a thrilling finish on Wednesday night.
Bridges nailed a crucial 3-pointer from the top of the key as the clock expired, propelling the New York Knicks to a dramatic 114-113 overtime victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. The shot, executed flawlessly off an inbounds play with the Knicks trailing by two points and only three seconds remaining, left Donovan Clingan helpless as Bridges and the Knicks erupted in celebration.
Despite only sinking two 3-pointers throughout the game, Bridges finished with an impressive 33 points, along with four rebounds and four assists.
The game was a back-and-forth battle, featuring an incredible 42 lead changes and culminating in overtime after Scoot Henderson sank two free throws in the final moments of regulation. However, thanks to Bridges’ heroics, the Knicks emerged victorious from Portland.
Henderson led the Blazers with 30 points off the bench, shooting 10-of-16 from the field. Deni Avdija contributed 27 points and 15 rebounds, while Shaedon Sharpe added 21 points. The defeat dropped Portland to a 28-39 record, placing them five games behind the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
OG Anunoby recorded 23 points and seven rebounds for the Knicks in the win. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 21 points, with Miles McBride and Josh Hart each chipping in 11 points. This victory marked the Knicks’ second consecutive win, solidifying their third-place position in the Eastern Conference with a 42-23 record.
The Knicks will continue their road trip on the West Coast, facing the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco on Saturday.
