On Saturday night, Paul George put up 15 points along with three steals and seven rebounds. However, it was his failure to secure a crucial rebound that ultimately led to the Philadelphia 76ers’ 105-103 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
With the game tied at 103-103, Brooklyn’s Keon Johnson missed a 3-pointer with just 1.1 seconds left on the clock. George had the opportunity to grab the rebound but failed to make a move for the ball, allowing Nic Claxton to tip it in for the game-winning basket.
George’s lack of effort on that play highlighted his overall lackadaisical approach throughout the game.
After the game, when asked for advice to help Joel Embiid with his ongoing knee injury, George jokingly replied, “Drugs help.” While he may have said it in jest, the comment did not sit well with fans or observers of the Sixers’ disappointing season.
Despite a strong performance from Tyrese Maxey, who scored 31 points including five 3-pointers, the Sixers couldn’t secure a win. With a lineup featuring George and Embiid, the team’s losing streak extended to seven games, dropping them to 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Looking ahead, the 76ers will aim to end their losing streak when they face the Chicago Bulls on Monday. Meanwhile, the Nets will take on the Washington Wizards in their next game.
