Detroit Pistons shooting guard Jaden Ivey was having a standout season, but unfortunately, it may be cut short following a devastating injury during Wednesday’s game against the Orlando Magic.
The former top-five draft pick had to be stretchered off the court after a collision with Cole Anthony left him in excruciating pain. The sight of Ivey’s ankle twisted at a severe angle was difficult to watch for everyone present.
As Ivey received medical attention, the somber atmosphere was palpable, with Anthony visibly distraught. The crowd showed their support by applauding and chanting Ivey’s name as he was taken off the court with a towel covering his injured leg.

Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff refrained from providing details about the injury post-game but acknowledged its impact on the team, as reported by Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press:
“It’s tough on the whole group, to see him hurting like that is tough on us. He’s built for it, he’s going to shake back knowing him. He’s going to work his tail off and be better than ever when he gets back. It’s tough for sure.”
For Ivey, who was showing significant improvement in his third NBA season, this injury is a major setback. Prior to the incident, he was posting career-best numbers in points, rebounds, steals, field-goal percentage, and 3-point percentage, contributing to the Pistons’ improved record this season.
