After his victory at UFC 306, Raul Rosas Jr. found himself in the spotlight for an unexpected reason. Despite winning by unanimous decision, he called for a post-fight bonus, knowing that his performance may not have been deserving of it.

Rosas, a 19-year-old bantamweight prospect, won with 29-28 scorecards but acknowledged that it wasn’t a Fight of the Night caliber bout nor did he secure a finish, typically required for a Performance of the Night bonus.

When asked why he made the bonus request, Rosas explained, “It was just the heat of the moment. Since I’m used to getting finishes and asking for it after, it just came out.”

Despite recognizing that his performance may not have warranted the bonus, Rosas argued that his ability to draw a crowd should be considered. Being the opening fight on the prelims, he believes that many fans showed up early specifically to watch him compete.

Although he didn’t get the finish he desired, Rosas commended his opponent Aoriqileng for putting up a tough fight. While he wasn’t able to secure a submission, he was content with his overall performance.

In a post-fight interview, Rosas expressed interest in discussing his future with UFC CEO Dana White. While he mentioned wanting to discuss numbers, he clarified that he’s not dissatisfied with his current situation with the promotion.

Rosas emphasized his desire to face ranked opponents in the future and expressed gratitude towards the UFC for their treatment of him. He remains optimistic about his future with the organization.

Looking ahead, Rosas plans to fulfill the remaining fights on his UFC contract and continue showcasing his skills to fans. Regardless of his placement on the card, he believes that people will tune in to watch him perform.
