Red Sox CBO Craig Breslow provides update on mindset ahead of MLB trade deadline

The MLB trade deadline is quickly approaching, and the Boston Red Sox find themselves in a playoff contention position after a series of impressive performances in recent weeks.

However, there is uncertainty surrounding the team’s strategy for the deadline. Will they make acquisitions? Will they sell off assets? Or will they take a balanced approach? The answer remains unclear.

Leading up to the deadline, Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow discussed the team’s direction on the “Fenway Rundown” podcast with Chris Cotillo and Sean McAdam.

“I need to consider how we can position ourselves for success in the short term and the long term,” Breslow stated. “Finding the right balance is challenging, and our decision will be influenced by various factors, with on-field performance being the most important.”

“I am determined to make a decision and as we gather more information in the coming weeks, our on-field results will play a key role in shaping our direction,” Breslow added.

Manager Alex Cora and his team have been delivering solid results, currently boasting a nine-game lead above .500. They are set to face the struggling Oakland Athletics at Fenway Park in the upcoming series.

If the Red Sox continue their winning streak and the management opts not to make moves, it could lead to disappointment among fans and players, as Breslow’s comments suggest.
