Rhys McKee finally secured his first UFC octagon win at UFC on ESPN 65 after multiple attempts and two previous stints with the promotion. The welterweight fighter from Northern Ireland showcased his striking skills in a dominant performance against Daniel Frunza, resulting in a TKO victory in the first round. McKee landed four knockdowns that caused significant damage to Frunza’s eye and lip, leading the doctor to stop the fight.

Despite Frunza’s determination to continue fighting, the doctor’s decision brought disappointment to him while McKee expressed his pride in securing the victory. In his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, McKee stated, “It feels damn good. I’m here to stay. This is just the first one. I have to thank the UFC for giving me the opportunity, because I’ll turn this thing around and be in the top 15.”
