Russell Westbrook reaches 2-year, $6.8 million minimum deal with Nuggets after trade

The Denver Nuggets have officially completed the signing of Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook, who was recently traded from the Los Angeles Clippers, has agreed to a two-year, $6.8 million veteran minimum deal with the Nuggets, as confirmed by his agent to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

This two-year deal includes a player option for the 2025-26 season.

Following the trade, Westbrook was initially sent to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Kris Dunn and a future second-round draft pick. However, a contract buyout was reached between Westbrook and the Jazz, paving the way for his signing with the Nuggets.

Denver becomes Westbrook’s sixth team in the last seven seasons. Despite a career-low performance last season with the Clippers, Westbrook is expected to provide a significant boost to the Nuggets’ second unit alongside Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray.

After winning the NBA title in 2023, the Nuggets finished last season with a 57-25 record and made it to the Western Conference semifinals, where they were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
