Update: Trade is official
The Washington Commanders have officially traded WR Jahan Dotson, their former first-round pick, to the Philadelphia Eagles. In exchange, the Eagles are sending the Commanders a third-round pick and two seventh-round picks, while also receiving Washington’s fifth-round pick.
Prior to the trade, Jahan Dotson was struggling in Washington during the offseason. Reports indicated that Dyami Brown had been outperforming him, and free agent signing Olamide Zaccheaus was receiving more attention from the media. Dotson was expected to make the roster, but a trade seemed imminent for him to secure a spot on another team’s roster for Week 1.
Selected as the No. 16 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Jahan Dotson was part of a trade-down scenario by Washington with the New Orleans Saints, who selected WR Chris Olave. Washington acquired Brian Robinson, Sam Howell, and Cole Turner in that trade, and now they continue the trading trend with Philadelphia.
Trade specifics:
— The fifth-round pick is the only one held by the Commanders.
— The Eagles possess two third-round picks, one being their own and the other from Miami. This pick is the better of the two.
— Philadelphia has four seventh-round picks, with the ones involved in the trade being the third and fourth selections. Therefore, they are later in the round. https://t.co/dp3h7IDX6q— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 22, 2024
