Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo, who recently joined the starting lineup, is now facing an indefinite period on the sidelines due to a toe injury.

The injury was announced by the Timberwolves on Monday before their game against the Memphis Grizzlies. DiVincenzo suffered a Grade 3 sprain to his left big toe during a game against the Warriors and had already missed two games prior to this announcement.

The Timberwolves are currently seeking a second opinion on the injury to determine the best course of treatment. DiVincenzo was seen wearing a walking boot in the team’s locker room prior to the game against the Grizzlies.

DiVincenzo became a part of the Timberwolves in the offseason as part of a trade that involved Karl-Anthony Towns moving to the New York Knicks. He transitioned to the starting lineup on January 6th, replacing Mike Conley. In his six games as a starter, DiVincenzo showcased impressive stats, averaging 17.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game.

Despite this setback, the Timberwolves had a successful 4-2 record since DiVincenzo’s promotion to the starting lineup. Currently holding the eighth spot in the Western Conference with a record of 22-20, the team will have to adjust their game plan in his absence.
