New York Yankees third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera suffered a devastating ankle injury during a game against the Seattle Mariners. Cabrera was being driven home by a sacrifice fly from Aaron Judge when he slid into the plate and his left ankle twisted awkwardly beneath him, causing him to collapse in pain.

Medical staff rushed to his aid as Cabrera lay on the field for an extended period before being stretchered off and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The extent of his injury is currently unknown.

Teammate Trent Grisham described Cabrera as the heart of the team, praising his work ethic and positive attitude both on and off the field. Despite the injury, Cabrera’s run did count towards the team’s score.

After the game, Aaron Judge shared a touching moment with Cabrera, who inquired if he had successfully scored before being taken off the field. Judge emphasized Cabrera’s dedication to the team and his love for being a Yankee.

In Cabrera’s absence, Oswald Peraza took over at third base, and Jorbit Vivas moved to second base to secure the win for the Yankees. The team’s victory marked their fifth win in six games, bringing their season record to 24-17 with two games remaining in the series against the Mariners.
