Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams has suffered a season-ending torn ACL in his right knee during a recent game against the Milwaukee Bucks, as reported by Chris Haynes. Williams sustained the injury in the fourth quarter while driving to the basket, resulting in the need for assistance off the court. The MRI confirmed the tear, sidelining him for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Williams, a Charlotte native, was in his second season with the Hornets after being acquired from the Dallas Mavericks. He was in the second year of a four-year, $54 million contract and was averaging 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 16 games this season. Throughout his six-year NBA career, Williams has been a consistent contributor, averaging 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

With Williams out, rookies Tidjane Salaün and Moussa Diabate are expected to step up at power forward for the Hornets. The team has already been dealing with injuries to centers Mark Williams and Nick Richards, as well as a recent absence by Miles Bridges due to a knee injury. Despite the challenges, young stars LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller are leading the team in scoring, keeping the Hornets competitive in the Eastern Conference.

Williams expressed gratitude for the support he has received following his injury, emphasizing his determination to return stronger. The Hornets will look to regroup and adjust their lineup as they navigate through this setback in the season.
